Semi tubular rivets are similar to solid rivets, but with a partial hole on the opposite side of the head. The hole rolls the tubular part outward when the force is applied. This rivet reduces the force by 1/4th time the force required in solid rivets. Since the swelling of the semi tubular rivets is only on the tail side, they are also used at the joints where the movement is preferred. Such rivets are commonly used in light fixtures, ladders, electronics, HVAC ducts, brakes and so on.
